"The Canary Garden", Jardin Botanical" is situated in Tafira
Alta about 10 minutes driving from Las Palmas. It is the biggest botanical
garden in Spain. The garden covers about 27 hectares and is founded in 1952
by the Swede Eric Sventenius.
When you enter the garden one of the first
places to se is Plaza Viera y Clavijo, from where you can see all of the
garden, which by the way contain more than 2000 kinds of cactus, waterfalls,
lakes and much more.
Many of the plants are unique for the
Canary Island, and many botanists go to the Islands from the same reason. In
order to secure natural environments the garden is situated in a undulated
ground. |
